I Have a 2005 Tundra, which I recently had towed (at my expense) to Downtown Toyota in Spokane, WA. because of a loud engine noise.
I was told by Downtown Toyota that the vehicle needed a new motor and was asked for my oil change records. I immediately went to the places that I had the vehicle serviced. I gathered what records I could and forwarded the information to Downtown Toyota.
Downtown Toyota informed me that the oil was dirty and that the motor failure would be attributed to dirty oil.I was given 2 hours to return the rental car that I was earlier issued, and I was told that I would have to pay $300+ dollars to have the oil pan removed, and that if there were signs of sludge in the oil pan, my warranty for the motor would be void.
I asked if, instead of pulling the oil pan, would they perform some basic diagnostics to see what exactly had failed in the motor before assigning blame. Downtown Toyota refused to perform any diagnostics other than to remove the oil pan for more than $300.
The truck only has has around 40,000 miles on the engine.
I have already filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's office.
You'd be better off servicing your vehicle anywhere else than Downtown Toyota of Spokane, Washington.
