I have a 2008 FJ. bought it new. Ever since I got it's been making a clunking noise and also you can feel a jerk. The dealership says they lubricated the drive shaft, the noise is coming from the drive shaft coming to a stop and this is not abnormal.
I contacted Toyota and their response was "Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. I apologize for the concern you are experiencing with your 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and we regret to hear of your dissatisfaction in this matter. In Toyota's continuing commitment to provide quality service, each Toyota dealership has, on site, a Customer Relations Manager to address any concerns a customer may have. In addition, Toyota factory technicians support the dealerships by providing additional assistance and acting as consultants in unusual situations. We regret to hear of your dissatisfaction in this matter and have thoroughly reviewed your situation. We note that the regional representative responsible for Burien Toyota reviewed all information pertinent to your case, and rendered a decision, declining your request on behalf of Toyota, because your vehicle is operating normally and according to design. Because the regional representative has been trained by Toyota, the decision rendered by this individual represents Toyota's position. Our review of the case indicates that all of Toyota's guidelines have been followed and we accordingly concur with the decision. Because you disagree with Toyota's position on a product - related issue and are within arbitration guidelines, we have forwarded documentation to you for arbitration by the National Center for Dispute Settlement (NCDS). The NCDS will render a decision within a maximum of 40 days once they have received the completed arbitration request from you; their decision is not binding on you if you are dissatisfied with it. In addition, by sending you arbitration paperwork, we have notified our regional Toyota office of your concern, affording the regional office a final opportunity to review your concern prior to the arbitrator's decision. Toyota values you as a customer and we appreciate the opportunity to further review your case."
